Bio

Miguel A. Parrales received his degree in Mechanical Engineering (5 year programme) at the School of Engineering (ETSI) of the University of Seville in the year 2009. After finishing his studies, he continued his scientific education thanks to a FPI grant funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology, which was associated to the research project "Mechanisms of generation of micron-sized drops and bubbles with applications to industrial processes, pharmacology and medicine" leaded by Prof. José M. Gordillo at the Fluid Mechanics Research Group of the University of Seville (GIMFus).

During his predoctoral traininig, he did various short research stays. In 2011, he visited the Physics of Fluids group at the University of Twente (Enschede, The Netherlands), leaded by Prof. Detlef Lohse. In 2012, he visited the Nanomedicine and Medical Acoustics Laboratory (NanoMedAL) at Boston University (Massachusetts, USA) under the supervision of Prof. Tyrone Porter. Finally, in 2013, he visited the Fluid Mechanics Research Group at Carlos III University of Madrid (Spain), where he collaborated with Prof. Javier Rodríguez. Miguel A. Parrales got his Master degree in Mechanical Engineering (2010) and a PhD degree in Fluid Mechanics (2014) under the supervision of Profs. Juan M. Fernández and Miguel Pérez-Saborid from the University of Seville. His thesis dissertation was entitled  "Acoustic wave propagation and scattering through microbubble clouds: application to ultrasound contrast agents modeling".

At the moment, he works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Fluid Mechanics Research Group of the Carlos III University of Madrid, where he studies the dissolution processes of bubbles trapped in porous media under the effects of ultrasonic waves.
